Known for playing the role of Ammaji in 'Na Aana Iss Des Meri Laado', actress Meghna Malik was recently in Lucknow. Even though the actress has visited the city in the recent past, she recalls fondly the time spent here 18 years back, when she had come for the staging of a play. "I was here 18 years back for a play titled Kaide Haya. Since the play was in Urdu, I was scared to perform in front of the Lucknow audience. But thankfully mujhe Lucknow ki janta ne iss play mein pass kar diya and my performance went very well."
After playing the role of a bold lady from a village in Naa Aana..., Meghna says she is always looking for something new in her shows. "I want to do something different. Aaj kal ke TV shows mein mahilaayein ya toh husbands ko daba rahi hain ya khud dab rahi hain; ro rahi hain ya rula rahi hain. Professional and mature stories are missing in the industry. I hate doing such shows where women are decorated like Christmas trees and presented on television," she says.
Happy and single at 44, Meghna says she is still waiting for her Mr Right. "I have been lucky that my love for acting is still alive and therefore, it does not bother me whether I am married or not. Yes I do believe that someone somewhere is made for me too, but I am yet to find him. There are times when the feeling of loneliness does hit me, but then, I engage myself in work so much that I don't get time to think about it."
