Ramdev Launches Private Security Firm Parakram Suraksha Pvt Ltd in Haridwar

Haridwar, July 13: Looking beyond FMCG and Yoga, founder of the Patanjali Group of Institutions Baba Ramdev today launched a private security firm called Parakram Suraksha Private Limited in Haridwar. “Patanjali has sensitised people towards Ayurveda, Yoga and Swadeshi (products). Now our aim is to prepare individuals for self and country’s security and for this we have formed Parakram (security agency),” Ramdev said in a statement.
As per the Patanjali sources, Baba Ramdev has hired retired army and police officials for his private security firm to train young recruits. The reports also have it that Baba Ramdev plans to make a mark by the end of this year. Some retired officials have joined the firm as volunteers to share the techniques with the young talent.As per a Hindustan Times report, young men and women were seen training inside Ramdev’s Patanjali complex in Haridwar. Flexing their muscles, walking on a tightrope and running, people have started training as private security guards with Ramdev’s Parakram Suraksha Private Ltd.As per a study by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the private security business in India has been growing at a rate of 40 per cent. More than 5 million guards trained at private security firms are working in shopping malls, guarding individuals, security corporate offices among others. “As early as in 2006, it was reported that the industry was paying Rs 10,000 crore to the exchequer by way of service tax, provident fund, contributions to employees insurance etc,” the study said.In the year 2016, Ramdev’s FMCG business was worth Rs 1,100 crore, as per PTI. In the same year, Acharya Balkrishna, CEO of Ramdev’s Patanjali, was ranked the 25th richest person in India with Rs 25,600 crore of wealth. Earlier, Baba Ramdev had announced that he would venture into higher education and dairy business.
