After Pratyusha Banerjee's death, there has been a slugfest happening with her 'friends' claiming to spill secrets about the TV actress' life.
Her close friend Kamya Punjabi, who was one of the first to call a press conference along with four other friends, and has been by her parents' side since they reached Mumbai, says that she wasn't doing this for publicity. The actress, has recorded her statement with the police on Tuesday, told us, "We have been counted among the likes of Ajaz Khan and Rakhi Sawant who had probably met Pratyusha just once. Hum log kya keh sakte hain. Kamya Punjabi ko publicity ki zaroorat padh gayi aur woh bhi apni dost ki maut se. Waah (Does Kamya Punjabi need publicity and that too from a friend's death?) If I was doing this for publicity, toh main bhi kaala chashma pehenke aati aur dus minute mein nikal jaati. Itne dhakke nahi kha rahi hoti (If I'd been doing this for publicity, I could've just made an appearance for 10 minutes and left). We have been running here and there and organizing everything. Those who want publicity don't take these kind of troubles. Aaj police station mein pehli baar baithi hoon. Kitna time lag jaata hai statement dene mein. Aur phir log bolte hain ki publicity ke liye kar rahe hain (This is the first time I've been to a police station. Giving a statement takes a lot of time. And then people accuse me of doing this for publicity)."
Kamya said that the police has already started calling Pratyusha's friends for questioning. "We are happy that the case has been filed. Now we are moving forward. I am happy to see that the police has started calling witnesses. We know it's not going to be an easy battle, but we know that it won't be impossible. We want to know the truth as to what happened with her," she added.
