Veteran actor-filmmaker Amol Palekar is all set to return to the small screen after 10 years with the fiction show 'Roshni'.
The actor, who featured in the TV show 'Kachchi Dhoop' (1987) and made an appearance in 'Kareena Kareena' (2005), will play a doctor in the new serial. He will be seen as the protagonist Roshni's (Pooja Gor) grandfather, who stands for all that is right in the medical profession and who guides her in her journey as a doctor. Incidentally, Satish Shah was the original choice for the part, but the deal failed to materialise
A source associated with the show says, "The show attempts to dispel the negativity that prevails around the medical system and takes an honest look at the profession that is increasingly being perceived as having become commercial." While the show is being filmed at real locations and hospitals, we also hear that a portion has been shot in the UK.
The actor confirms, "Yes, I am part of the show. This is my ghar wapasi."
