Actress Vahbiz Dorabjee was on a break for the past couple of years, but it wasn't out of choice. It was, in fact, for medical reasons.
Says the actress, "I had a few health issues, including hypothyroidism. Since I never went for regular check-ups and blood tests, it didn't come to my notice earlier. I thought the weight I was putting on was because I was not working out. TV actors work for 12 hours a day. We spend so much time on the sets, working under unhygienic conditions. The food on the set is really unhealthy and has a lot of soda in it. Everyone should avoid set ka khana and get homemade food. The production houses should look into these issues. If the actors are happy and healthy, it will benefit the show also."
Vahbiz feels that her health issues began while shooting for her first show, 'Pyaar Kii Ek Kahaani'. "We used to shoot continuously. I also did a few night shifts. The stress and tension may have triggered it off," she recalls. The actress even lost out on a lot of promising roles due to her health issues. "The last one year has been very unlucky. I was perpetually falling ill and had become weak. It was a terrible experience. I was out of action, which isn't a very good thing for a TV actor. But I concentrated on regaining my health. I am a born fighter and am always positive," says the actress, who's slimmer than before.
She has lost 10 kilos now. "I do functional training four to five times a week. It is very difficult and requires a lot of strength and stamina, but I was determined to get back into shape. And I am looking my best as well as feeling my best," says Vahbiz, who's set to return to TV now. She will be seen as a Punjabi kudi in Vikas Gupta's comedy show 'Gabbar'.
