The Chandrakanta princess Madhurima Tuli has received a lot of recognition in the TV industry, though the fame did not fall in her kitty so easily. As hard work and determination is the main key to success, it proves true in Madhurima's case as well .
The small town girl has undergone lot of hardships to reach this epitome of success. We just see the happy face now but the same face was once covered with distress. Before gaining the limelight she had also reached a point where she was on the verge to quit the industry and settle down - "There were times when I was so heart-broken, depressed and sad that I even once thought of quitting this industry, and settling down by getting married and having kids. But, luckily I didn't give up that easily, stayed back and fought hard. I used to feel sad, but then I used to divert my mind. These things do happen in any profession but if you are determined then you must fight it out."
Madhurima was an athlete and was extremely good in sports. She has won several medals for State level sprint and hurdle events.
She has bagged the tile 'Miss Uttaranchal' before entering TV industry.
Tuli aspired to join India's women cricket team in the past - "Basically I'm an athlete and loved playing sports when I was in school. I wanted to join the women's cricket team. But there aren't any good avenues for women's cricket team in India. I had also won a state beauty pageant too. I ended up finally taking up modeling and acting."
It was a TVC ad that changed her life, a cellular network ad. The TVC got her an offer to play Akshay Kumar's wife in his film 'Baby'; - "Honestly speaking, I was initially a bit apprehensive about doing that ad because when the concept was narrated to me, it also involved a baby. So for a second, I thought I might get stereotyped. But then I didn't want to miss working with my ad director as he is well-known for his craft. So I went ahead and did the shoot. Also shooting an ad just takes 2-3 days and then it's on air for good 3-4 months. However, I was also quite amazed by the tremendous response I got for the ad. I'm happy that I decided to do the ad."
Madhurima has taken her acting lessons from Kishore Namit's acting school.
She made a debut in Bollywood with romance film 'Kya Karein Kya Na Karein'.
Tli has earned fame down in South as well. She made an early debut in Telugu film 'Saththaa'(2004) opposite SaiKiran.
Her career life includes many movies like Bachna ae Haseeno, Toss, Cigarrete Ki Traah, Warning, Baby, Hamari Adhuri Kahani and Naam Shabana. Though she has worked in good number of Bollywood movies, she is more inlcined towards TV shows, she contributes to many tv shows like Shree, Rang Badalti Odhani, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi, Kumkum Bhagya, I Can Do That (Indian TV series), Dafa 420, 24 (Indian TV series season 2) and Chandrakanta — Ek Mayavi Prem Gaatha.
She beleives women rule the TV industry - “First of all, let me tell you television is always ruled by women. And I am sure television could not have grown so much without being accepted by the audience on the ground of women’s representation. I see no point of going down to feminism and saying that we represent women as they are discriminated by men all the time.”
