Deal Or No Deal: Will Ronit Roy be able to pull it off as host?

The actor will be seen hosting Deal Or No Deal, an Indian adaptation of the international game show by the same name

Ronit Roy, who is currently seen in Sony TV's Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyar, will host a new game show on &TV starting September 5. The actor will be seen hosting Deal Or No Deal, an Indian adaptation of the international game show by the same name. Different editions of the game show have earlier been hosted in India by R. Madhavan, Mandira Bedi and Rajeev Khandelwal.
This is not the first time that Ronit is donning the hat of host; he has hosted Colors' show Kitchen Champion in the past.

However, post that, the actor has become synonymous with roles of another kind. His recent outings in films have had him essaying rather serious roles, be it playing a strict father in Udaan and 2 States or a serious, violent cop in Ugly and Boss. We have hardly seen him smiling on screen, leave alone playing a jovial character. Even on the small screen, he has serious roles in both Sony TV's Adalat and Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar. Needless to say, he's been pulling all these roles with elan.

No wonder then, that in the promo for the new show Deal Or No Deal, he is looking a tad uncomfortable matching paces with the girls even though the dance steps are fairly simple. We know dance is not his forte (you may or may not remember First Time Dekha Tumhey from Ronit's debut film Jaan Tere Naam) but that was a long time ago.

It would actually be an interesting change to see him playing a friendly host, chatting with the contestants, cracking jokes and making them comfortable but how much he succeeds in doing so will be decided after the show premieres.
While talking about the show, Ronit said, "Yes, I am coming back as a host after a long time. It is a fun game show and I am looking forward to be a part of it."

So are we Ronit! The show airs on September 5 on &TV at 8 p.m.
