Transwoman athlete and Rise and Fall fame Anaya Bangar pens a life-changing note as 2025 ends, says, “Letting go of an old body, an old identity”
As 2025 draws to a close and 2026 approaches, Anaya Bangar took to social media to share a deeply emotional and powerful note reflecting on a year filled with intense battles, transformation, and self-discovery. Calling 2025 a journey of survival rather than strategy, Anaya opened up about choosing herself through pain, visibility, and courage.
A transwoman athlete and a strong LGBTQ+ advocate, Anaya was recently seen in the reality show Rise & Fall. Over the past year, she has not only navigated personal and physical transitions but also stood tall in the face of public scrutiny, resistance, and expectations that were never hers to carry.
Sharing how the year reshaped her from within, Anaya penned a heartfelt note that captured her journey of becoming her truest self — emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
She shares, "2025 didn't arrive gently. It began with battles no one could see January was survival, not strategy. I was fighting myself, my fears, my past, and the weight of expectations that were never mine to carry. In April, I returned to India as my true self. Not quietly, not halfway. Fully. Coming home meant love in some places, resistance in others, and learning that courage doesn't always look loud sometimes it's simply choosing not to disappear."
"August asked everything of me. Two gender-affirming surgeries. Pain, patience, vulnerability. Letting go of an old body, an old identity, and the comfort of certainty trusting that becoming was worth the discomfort. September put me in front of the world in a way I'd never experienced before. My reality TV debut Rise & Fall. Visibility can be intoxicating, but it can also strip you bare. I learned how quickly narratives are built, how easily people judge what they don't understand, and how important it is to stay rooted when the noise gets loud."
"In November, I went back to where my heart has always belonged cricket. Not for validation. Not for applause. But to remind myself that some dreams don't die they just wait for you to return stronger and in December, something shifted. Winning the Breaking Barriers Award wasn't just recognition it felt like acknowledgment of every silent fight, every moment I stood alone, every time I chose integrity over ease. I celebrated my birthday this year not as who I was expected to be, but as who I truly am.
"This year was about shedding versions of myself that no longer fit. About standing tall while being misunderstood.About choosing myself even when no one else did.I don't know what 2026 holds. But I step into it lighter, braver, and more honest than I've ever been. The note struck a chord with many, earning widespread appreciation for its honesty and strength."
As Anaya steps into 2026, her journey stands as a reminder that transformation is rarely easy but always worth it when it leads to living one’s truth.
